Chipotle IQ is back for the fifth time consecutively, trying to test customers’ understanding of Chipotle’s brand in exchange for food.
For the fifth time in consecutive years, Chipotle is offering its trivia game, dubbed Chipotle IQ, to reward players from Canada, the United States, and Canada with the chance of winning the buy-one-get-one-free deal.
The game has racked up 4 million players since it was launched. This year’s game will be available August 20-22. During this time, fans can sign up on chipotleiq.com to get answers to questions regarding the brand’s ingredients, techniques for cooking sustainable work, history, and more.
Chipotle will give 5,000 BOGO codes every hour to those who score 10/10 on Chipotle IQ. A perfect score will open an additional credit, which, if answered correctly, users are entered into a draw to win 50 burritos free for a whole year. If you finish the test and score a perfect mark, those not receiving the BOGO coupon will be awarded the bonus points prize. Members who score 7, 8 or 9 will be awarded 25 reward points on their account.
“This marks the fifth year that we are testing our fans’ knowledge with Chipotle IQ,” chief brand officer Chris Brandt said in a statement. “With 4 million gameplays since introducing the concept, we believe there’s a need for competition and free burritos.”
Brandt gave a hint to an answer to one question. He pointed out that Chipotle uses 48 avocados in each batch of guacamole.
The ability to offer exclusive gamified promotions via the app has proven an effective strategy for Chipotle. For instance, the company’s recent National Burrito Day resulted in the highest sales and sales day ever and its highest day of enrollment in the year for its rewards program.
The campaign also featured an online word game that offered the chance of winning the buy-one-get-one-free offer and free delivery for members of the rewards program.
Established in 2005, this rewards programme now has around 40 million customers who frequent the site and make more purchases on the company, as executives stated in a recently held earnings call.
